POSITION ONE: The _Department of Classical Studies_ invites applications for a definite tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in August, 2006. Candidates must have the Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment. We are looking for candidates with expertise in Latin Prose of the Roman Republic and/or early Empire. Special interest in one or more of the following fields is also desirable: Roman Law, Rhetoric, Social History, Late Antiquity. The successful candidate must be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Latin at all levels as well as general courses in Classical Civilization (including a large lecture course in Mythology) and contribute to the Department’s teacher training efforts. Strong commitment to scholarship and publication is necessary as well as evidence of excellent teaching.

POSITION TWO: The _Department of Classical Studies_ invites applications for a definite 3-year position at the rank of Lecturer to begin in August, 2006. Candidates should hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in Classics by the time of appointment. The primary area of responsibility will be teaching Latin at the introductory and intermediate levels and classical civilization courses at all undergraduate levels. The area of specialization is open, and candidates should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching. Teaching load is 4 courses per semester.

The Department of Classical Studies invites applications for a definite one-year appointment as Lecturer of Classical Studies beginning in August 2005. Ph.D. or M.A. in hand preferred. Teaching load is four courses per semester and courses for the 2005-2006 year will include Mythology, Introduction to Greek Civilization and other civilization courses open to negotiation.
