Bibliographer for Classics and Byzantine Studies. The University Libraries of Notre Dame invite applications for a library faculty position (non tenure-track) in Classics and Byzantine Studies. Under the Head of the Department of Collection Development and in consultation with the relevant teaching faculty, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and administration of the Classics and Byzantine Studies Collections in all formats, including, print, microfilm and electronic. He or she will also provide advanced reference and research assistance in relevant subjects, as well as instruction and consultation as appropriate, and will work with the Library Advancement Officer in seeking donor and grant funding, and with the Preservation and Conservation Department in matters relating to the preservation of the collections.

A graduate degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school or an appropriate advanced degree and a strong academic background in relevant fields are required. Proficiency in Greek and Latin is essential and a solid reading knowledge of at least one foreign language, preferably German, is required. Experience in collection development is highly desirable along with strong oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, proficiency with electronic resources, and proven ability to work well with colleagues.

Librarians at Notre Dame are non-tenure track members of the faculty.
