The Department of Classics and Letters at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for the newly constituted Institute for American Constitutional Heritage. We seek applicants for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin August 2010. This position is the first in a series of hires we will make over the next few years to build the Institute. The applicant should specialize in the U.S. Founding or American colonial history, preferably with an emphasis on institutional or intellectual history. Evidence of outstanding teaching and research potential is required. Teaching responsibilities will include four courses per year.

The Institute for American Constitutional Heritage (IACH) is an interdisciplinary center housed in the Department of Classics and Letters for the study of the U.S. Constitution from various perspectives—historical, legal, philosophical. Following the tradition of the interdisciplinary Humanities curriculum of the Letters program, the IACH draws on affiliated faculty from across the University.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, C.V., three letters of reference, transcripts, a writing sample (chapter or article), and a list of courses the applicant would most like to teach.
