The Classics Department at the University of Oregon invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Classical Archaeology at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin September 16, 2013. PhD in Classical Archaeology or related discipline is required by the time of appointment and candidates must demonstrate a strong record or promise of exceptional scholarship and teaching.

Primary teaching responsibilities consist of five classes per year (2-2-1) and will include courses in Greek and/or Roman archaeology and material culture as well as Greek and/or Latin language and classics-in-translation at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We welcome applicants who are actively engaged in fieldwork supported by external funding or who have the potential to bring sponsored research to the University of Oregon. The successful candidate is expected to take an active role in the local chapter of the AIA.

Initial interviews will be conducted at the joint AIA-APA meeting in Seattle in January 2013.
