DEPARTMENT OF CLASSICAL STUDIES
The Department of Classical Studies has been authorized to conduct an open-rank search for a scholar in the field of Ancient History. The appointment is to begin in Fall 2008. Senior candidates will be expected to have a distinguished record of research and teaching; junior candidates will be expected to demonstrate the potential to achieve such distinction. In addition to teaching courses on historical subjects (including technical fields, such as epigraphy, numismatics, or papyrology), the successful candidate must also be able to teach courses in Latin and Greek at all levels. We are particularly interested in candidates who would strengthen connections with programs in such areas as Archaeology, Religious Studies, Egyptology and the Ancient Near East. Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowships in the Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences 2008-2009.
The School of Arts and Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania invites applicants for four two-year postdoctoral teaching fellowships in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. Fellows will teach one course per term. Eligibility is limited to applicants who will have received their Ph.D. within two years prior to the time they begin their fellowship at Penn (August 2006 or later). $46,968 stipend. Application deadline: November 2, 2007. We are especially seeking one fellow in the field of Classical Archaeology.
