Reporting to the Provost, and – on a consultative basis – the museum's Board of Overseers - the Director is responsible for the overall operation of the museum, its commitment to research, education, and public outreach, the quality of its exhibitions, and the maintenance of its collections. The successful candidate must above all be a leader, ideally with significant scholarly credentials in archaeology/anthropology. The Director must have experience managing complex institutions, and must be an excellent communicator with demonstrated ability to manage people effectively, and an enthusiastic and proven fund raiser.

The Department of Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for an open rank position in Latin literature and Roman culture beginning July 1, 2007. We expect to appoint a colleague with a strong record of teaching and scholarship, who will contribute to our curriculum at all levels, including courses in Latin and Greek.
