The search for an Assistant Professor in Ancient Philosophy and Classics has been canceled.

The Classics Department at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a tenure –track assistant professorship, commencing September 1, 2009 (pending budgetary approval). The PhD must be in hand by that date. The Department seeks a specialist in Ancient Philosophy, with a demonstrated ability to teach Greek and Latin. Candidates for the position should show strong promise of excellence in teaching and scholarship and be ready to participate fully in the Department's curriculum of courses in Greek and Latin and courses in translation at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in our graduate program in Classics, Philosophy and Ancient Science. Applications (hard copy only) should include a letter of application outlining teaching and research interests, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, documentation of teaching accomplishments, graduate transcript, and a writing sample (maximum of 30 pages) and should be sent by December 1, 2008 to D.
