The Classics Department at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a tenure –track assistant professorship, commencing September 1, 2013 (pending budgetary approval). The PhD must be in hand by that date. The Department seeks a specialist in Ancient Philosophy and Classics, with a demonstrated ability to teach Greek and Latin. Candidates for the position should show strong promise of excellence in teaching and scholarship and be ready to participate fully in the Department’s curriculum of courses in Greek and Latin at the undergraduate and graduate level and in courses in translation. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in our graduate program in Classics, Philosophy and Ancient Science. Applications should include a letter of application outlining teaching and research interests, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, documentation of teaching accomplishments, graduate transcript, and a writing sample (maximum of 30 pages) and should be sent by December 15, 2012 to Edwin D.
