The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Classics invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position to begin in the Fall Term 2002, pending budgetary approval. The appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level, with a preference for a candidate qualified for appointment at a tenured rank. The position is that of a specialist in Ancient Philosophy with a commitment to handling ancient texts in Greek and Latin. We are looking for candidates with a strong record of research and publication and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, both in courses in Greek and Latin and in translation. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in our graduate program in Classics, Philosophy and Ancient Science.
