The Department of Classics at the University of Puget Sound invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2003. Teach a first-year language sequence in either Greek or Latin. Other courses may include upper-level Latin or Greek, and/or courses in translation, e.g., Mythology, Epic, Women and Gender in the Ancient World, or Roman Civilization. Three courses/semester. Ph.D. (ABD considered) in Classics, and commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education. A review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled. The Department of Classics at the University of Puget Sound invites applications for a full-time, tenure-line position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2003. The successful candidate must be able to teach Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as offer courses in ancient literature and culture in translation. The candidate will also be expected to teach in the University's Honors program and to contribute to other interdisciplinary programs such as Women's Studies or Humanities. Ph.D. (ABD considered) in Classics, and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education. Primary research specialty may be either Greek or Roman literature, but an interest in the Roman world must be clearly demonstrated either by teaching or research. Special interests in comparative literature, gender studies, anthropology or material culture especially welcome.
