POSITION ONE: The Department of Classical Studies at the University of Richmond seeks applications for a tenure track appointment to begin in fall 2007. The position is for a specialist in classical literature. Successful candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching at all undergraduate levels and must be prepared to teach Latin (possibly some Greek), classical literature in translation, and advanced courses that support our curricula in the ancient languages and in Classical Civilization. We also seek an individual with a strong research program that potentially might involve undergraduate majors. The position is for a specialist in Mediterranean archaeology. Successful candidates must maintain an active research program and be committed to excellence in teaching at all undergraduate levels including being prepared to teach both Greek and Latin, surveys of ancient art and architecture, and courses in archaeology from introduction to advanced field techniques. We also seek an individual who is committed to spending summers in the field where undergraduate majors would be involved.
