The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures regrets to announce that its search for an Assistant Professor in Comparative Literature and Classics has been suspended for this academic year. As the recent economic crisis has taken on international proportions, its repercussions have affected our state and university budgets significantly. We close these searches reluctantly and look forward to reopening them in the near future.

The University of South Carolina announces a joint position at the rank of assistant professor in Comparative Literature and Classics. In Comparative Literature, the successful applicant must be able to teach in the undergraduate Great Books curriculum and a Graduate course on ancient literary theory. In Classics, he or she must be prepared to teach beginning language and more advanced courses in Latin and Greek as well as classical culture courses. Research specialty is open, except for Golden Age Latin poetry.
