Assistant Professor of Greek Language and Literature. The Division of Languages and Linguistics seeks an outstanding scholar/teacher to participate with other faculty in the development of the new Interdisciplinary Center for Hellenic Studies (ICHS) and Interdisciplinary Classical Civilizations major. Salary: $40,000 (negotiable); position commences Fall semester, 2000. Ph.D. in Classics, Greek or related discipline required at the time of appointment. Ability to teach both modern and ancient Greek language and literature is required. Responsibilities include teaching introductory and advanced language, literature and culture courses; presiding over the distance-learning initiative with Tarpon Springs Center; and a commitment to outreach programs with the local Greek community. A desire to work with others to develop a study-abroad program in Greece is desirable. Research specialization open, but should contribute to an interdisciplinary classical civilizations curriculum and not duplicate existing faculty strengths. Position is tenure-earning and offers candidacy for one of five "Endowed Named Professorships" in the ICHS with the opportunity to receive research and development stipends.
