The Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida invites applications for a tenure-earning Assistant Professor of Classics with a research emphasis in Roman historiography and rhetoric of the Silver Age to begin August 7, 2007. Successful applicants will have a PhD in Classics, teaching experience in both Greek and Latin at the BA and MA levels, and a clearly defined research program as evidenced by publications and/or receipt of grant support. Candidates with an ability to teach beginning level Modern Greek will be preferred as will candidates who can contribute to our beginning Latin program, both in the recruitment and in retention of students, to our Interdisciplinary Classical Civilizations program, and to the cognate program in ancient history. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications.
