THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH (SEWANEE) - SEWANEE, TN
Possible Tenure-Track Position. The University of the South, commonly known as Sewanee, invites applications for a possible position at the Assistant Professor level for the academic year 2001-2 and following. Candidates with a Ph.D. completed by August 2000 are preferred, but ABD's will be considered. The most important qualification is the ability to do successful teaching at all undergraduate levels in Latin, Greek, Classical Studies and Humanities; teaching experience is preferred. The teaching load will be six units for the year, and specific courses are negotiable. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

The University is comprised of a highly selective, coeducational, residential college of 1,300 undergraduates and a graduate seminary. While honoring its Episcopal heritage, the College is non-sectarian in its teaching and recruiting of students and faculty, and strongly protects academic freedom. It is located on 10,000 acres on the Cumberland Plateau between Chattanooga and Nashville, Tennessee.
