The Classics Department invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the area of Greek culture and history. Candidates must be able to move easily between material culture and broad historical and theoretical issues. Desired specialities include but are not limited to social history, gender studies, religion, art history, and epigraphy. The appointment begins in the Fall of 1999, salary competitive. The Ph.D. must have been granted by June 30, 1999; interest and ability in teaching a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including courses in Latin, Greek, and general education, are essential.
