UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (2 Positions) - LOS ANGELES, CA
The Department of Classics at the University of Southern California seeks to appoint TWO tenure-track assistant professors in the general area of ancient Greek culture, history, and literature. Candidates must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. in Classics or related field by June 30, 2000. The successful candidates will be expected to participate fully in the intellectual life of the department, and to teach courses ranging from general education through graduate instruction. Preference will be given to candidates who have a well-defined program of interdisciplinary research with a strong theoretical foundation. The Department especially seeks to extend its strengths in areas such as material culture, history, religion and mythology, gender studies, linguistics, and authors of the Hellenistic and Imperial periods; but applications in any area of ancient Greek studies are welcome.
