POSITION ONE: The Department of Classics at the University of Southern California has been authorized to invite applications for a distinguished senior appointment in classical studies at the rank of full professor. Area of specialization is open, but the successful candidate should have an international reputation based on research that has significantly shaped some aspect of the field. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to all elements of the departmental program, including research, teaching at all levels, and outreach to the broader intellectual community. This is a new position that has been granted to the department as part of a long-term strategy to develop and enhance classical studies at USC. POSITION TWO: The Department of Classics and the Department of Art History at the University of Southern California invite applications for a joint, tenure-track assistant professorship in Greek art. We seek broadly trained candidates who are doing innovative, theoretically informed, and interdisciplinary work in Greek visual culture, especially of the Archaic through Hellenistic periods. The position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in both Classics and Art History. Strong commitment to research and teaching expected; publications and teaching experience desirable. Ph.D. in hand by May 2002. Starts September 2002.
