UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA – LOS ANGELES, CA (Two Positions)
POSITION ONE: As part of the Senior Hiring Initiative of USC College, the USC Department of Classics seeks to appoint a senior scholar who will broaden and enhance the theoretical diversity of the department’s research and teaching programs. Candidates in all areas of ancient literature and culture are welcome. Applicants must have an established record of scholarly productivity and either currently hold a tenured position or be qualified to assume one upon appointment. Ph.D. in Classics or related field required. The Department will begin reviewing applications as of November 1, 2005. The position will remain open until filled. POSITION TWO: Ancient History. As part of the Senior Hiring Initiative of USC College, the USC Departments of Classics and History seek to appoint a senior scholar in ancient history. Candidates in all areas and periods welcome. Some preference for scholars in later periods (Hellenistic through Byzantine) and for scholars with demonstrated interest in relations between the Greco-Roman world and other cultures of the ancient Mediterranean or Near East. Applicants must have an established record of scholarly productivity and either currently hold a tenured position or be qualified to assume one upon appointment. Ph.D. in Classics or related field required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels, from undergraduate general education through training of doctoral students.
