Department of Classics - The Louise Farmer Boyer Chair in Classics & Biblical Studies. The University of Texas invites nominations and applications for the newly-created Louise Farmer Boyer Endowed Chair in Classics and Biblical Studies. The position will commence in Fall 2004. The search is open rank and seeks a senior scholar who will be appointed in the Department of Classics and affiliated with the Institute for the Study of Antiquity & Christian Origins (ISAC), a graduate research center of the Department of Classics, and with the Religious Studies Program. Candidates must hold the Ph.D. or equivalent with primary specialization in the areas of New Testament and Biblical (or Hellenistic) Greek with demonstrated competence in Classical antiquity. Special areas of expertise should include history and literature of early Christianity, the history of scholarship on the New Testament, and intersections between the New Testament and the culture/society of the Hellenistic-Roman world. Candidates must be able to present evidence of both scholarly and teaching excellence.
