The Department of Classics seeks to make a one-year visiting appointment in Ancient History, rank open, for 2006-2007. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications. The Ph.D., completed by 1 September 2006, is a minimum requirement. Position funding is pending budgetary approval. Duties include teaching two courses per semester in Greek history, historiography and language (3 history/historiography, 1 language) at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should show evidence or promise of scholarly accomplishment and teaching ability in both small and large classes, at the undergraduate and graduate levels. 1) The Department of Classics seeks to make an appointment in Classical Archaeology at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor, beginning September 2006. Position funding is pending budgetary approval. We anticipate that the appointee's duties will be equally divided between teaching and serving as assistant director of the Institute of Classical Archaeology. Research area should be Greek Archaeology. Minimum requirements are the Ph.D. completed by 1 September 2006, demonstrated administrative ability, and evidence of scholarly accomplishment and teaching ability in both small and large classes. Duties will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, administration and other service appropriate for an academic appointment. A background check will be conducted on the appointee.
