The Department of Philosophy and Classics at the University of Texas at San Antonio is accepting applications for a full-time position in Classical Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2009. Required qualifications: PhD in classical studies prior to appointment. Expertise in Greco-Roman language, culture, and literature; experience teaching Latin. Preferred qualifications: strong background in Latin language and literature. Additional background in ancient philosophy, history, archaeology or religion. Responsibilities: the course load for the first year is 2/2, but the appointee will be expected to teach 3/2 in subsequent years, subject to negotiation. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is pending budgetary approval.
