The Department of Languages and Literature at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track position at the entry level in Classics. We seek a generalist broadly trained in Greek and Roman literature and culture. In addition to Greek and Latin languages at all levels (including the graduate level for Classics students in our Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies program), candidates must be able to teach a broad range of general courses in Classical Civilization. Also desirable is expertise that lends itself well to an undergraduate program in Classics, such as history, archeology, art history, or comparative literature. Strong commitment to scholarship and publication is necessary, as well as demonstrated skill and experience in effective teaching.
Teaching load is two courses per semester. The University of Utah offers excellent research opportunities. Ph.D. required by time of appointment.
