The Department of Classics at the University of Vermont invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the level ofAssistant Professor beginning Fall 2000. We seek candidates withversatile teaching experience and interests who can maintain a productive research agenda while managing a 3-3 teaching load. All faculty in the department teach Greek and Latin language at all levels (including prose composition), literature in translation, and mythology, civilization, or ancient history. We are all committed to maintaining our department's long history of a rigorous philological curriculum. Candidates whose research and teaching interests are in Greek history are especially welcome. Ph.D. required by February 1, 2000.
