The Department of Classics at The University of Vermont invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor beginning fall 2006. We seek a generalist with versatile teaching experience and interests who can also maintain a productive research agenda. All faculty in the department teach Greek and Latin language at all levels, literature in translation, and mythology, civilization, and/or ancient history. We are committed to maintaining our department's long history of a rigorous philological curriculum. The area of specialization is open, but evidence of scholarly productivity and potential is a must. A Ph.D. in Classics is required by date of hire.
