UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON – SEATTLE, WA
The Department of Classics at the University of Washington has been authorized to make a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and invites applications for the position. The main desired area of specialization is Greek prose, historical and/or oratorical, classical and/or imperial (especially of the Second Sophistic). We are, however, especially interested in candidates with some expertise in, and whose teaching and research interests include, historiography, political and social institutions, and/or material culture. Employment will commence Autumn quarter 2005. Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate students and conducting independent research. Prospective applicants should have the Ph.D degree by the effective date of the appointment.
