  1. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - ARCHAEOLOGY. The Department of Classics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks candidates with proven strengths in research and teaching for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in Greek or Roman Archaeology, beginning in August, 2000. PhD required and ability to teach in both areas expected. Preference will be given to applicants with archaeological field experience. Applicants for this position should also be prepared to teach courses in Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as undergraduate lecture courses in classical topics. Salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience. A letter of application, CV, and three letters of recommendation should be addressed to Professor William J.   2. Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Latin Literature. The Department of Classics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks candidates with proven strengths in research and teaching for a tenure-track (Assistant Professor) or tenured position (Associate or Full Professor) in Latin Literature. Appointment to begin August, 2000. Preference will be given to candidates with additional expertise in Medieval Latin. Applicants for this position should be prepared to teach Latin language and literature at all levels, as well as undergraduate lecture courses in classical literature.
