Department of Foreign Languages & Literature - Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics

The Classics Program of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee seeks to hire a lecturer with the working title of Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics. This is a two year appointment beginning 8-23-10. The position involves a teaching load of 12 credits per semester, particularly in large lecture sections.

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Classics by August 2010; a record of effective teaching of Classical Civilization and of Greek or Latin. Preferred qualifications: expertise and/or experience in online instruction. A Hellenist is preferred.

Minimum qualifications: Candidates must have completed all the requirements for the PhD degree in classics or related field by August 2010; candidate must be a Hellenist. Preferred qualifications: experience teaching undergraduate Greek language courses on all levels as well as first and second-year Latin courses; experience in developing and teaching online courses in Greek civilization as sole instructor using D2L or similar platform; experience in teaching large sections of mythology.
