The Department of Classical Studies invites applications for the position of Mellon Assistant Professor of Classical Studies. The position is for a three-year term, not on the tenure track, effective Fall of 2002. Ph.D. and some teaching experience required; candidates should be no more than four years past their Ph.D. Applicants should be generalists prepared to teach Greek and/or Roman Civilization, Mythology, and courses in the classical languages. Because the department has added a major in Ancient Mediterranean Studies, we also welcome applicants who could teach a freshman seminar on a subject related to Judaism, Christianity, or Islam.
