The Department of Classical Studies invites nominations and applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position starting fall 2006. The candidate should be a generalist with a research basis in Roman culture and literature, especially poetry. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research explores broader relationships with Greek and Mediterranean culture as a whole. Strong promise for sustained scholarly publication is required. Our department is committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, and candidates need to show a notable ability and interest in teaching Latin and Greek at all levels. We anticipate that the successful candidate will play an active role in further promoting the department’s engagement with interdisciplinary connections between Classics and the university curriculum. PhD in hand no later than September 1, 2006 is required. The Department of Classical Studies invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track senior lecturer for the academic year starting Fall 2006. Ph.D. by August 15, 2006, and teaching experience required. Applicants should have major field in Greek history with preparation also to teach undergraduate courses in Greek civilization and the classical languages.
