Vassar College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and is strongly and actively committed to diversity within its community. Applications from historically underrepresented groups are especially encouraged.
This position will be filled EITHER as the Blegen Research Fellowship OR the Blegen Postdoctoral Fellowship. As one of his/her courses the Research Fellow will be expected to teach the Blegen Seminar, an advanced undergraduate seminar in English translation on a topic related to the Fellow's interests. Fellows are expected to contribute to the life of the department e.g., by attending meetings and events, maintaining a regular presence in their office, and presenting their research.
Applicants for the Research Fellowship must have at least three years of full-time teaching experience as an assistant or associate professor (or the equivalent). Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellowship must demonstrate a successful record of teaching undergraduates and either have earned the Ph.D. in the last three years (2008-10) or provide evidence of their ability to complete it by July 2011.
