Lectureship in Classics. The University invites applications for a Lectureship in Classics available from 1 February 2005 (or at an agreed later date).
Candidates should have particular interests in Latin language and literature, and especially in poetry. In addition, the ability to teach within the framework of an existing Program that includes both Classical languages and Classics in translation is essential. An interest in the development of interdisciplinary courses would also be an advantage.
The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic Program, teaching at all levels, from introductory lectures to M.A. and Ph.D. supervision. The Program offers undergraduate majors in Greek, Latin and Classical Studies, together with postgraduate degrees. Nearly a thousand students enroll in Classics courses each year.
Candidates should either have a completed PhD or be on the verge of completion, and have appropriate high-level skills in both classical languages. A clear research agenda is essential.
