Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in the Classics Programme. The Lecturer in Classics will contribute to teaching in the Classics Programme, including classes in Greek and Latin language at all levels as well as courses in translation on the history and culture of the ancient world . Candidates with specialties in Greek Literature and/or Greek History are encouraged to apply, but applicants with other interests will also be considered. The Lecturer is expected to supervise postgraduate research in areas of his or her expertise. [The position of Lecturer is equivalent to tenure-track Assistant Professor in North American Universities.]
The successful applicant will be expected to have primary expertise in Greek Literature and/or Greek History, together with the ability to teach both Greek and Latin languages. The appointee will be expected to have a PhD in Classics; have a good research record and the potential to attract new postgraduate enrolments; and have experience in teaching at tertiary level.
