The Classical Studies Program at Villanova University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Position begins in the fall semester 2013. Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment and a demonstrable record of outstanding teaching and scholarship. The successful candidate will also have a strong commitment to program development. Experience with study abroad programs in Italy and/or Greece a plus. Primary teaching responsibilities will include Latin and Greek languages and literature at all levels, courses in translation dealing with classical civilization and culture, and courses in the applicant’s area of expertise (preferably Latin prose). Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate (M.A.) courses. Pre-tenure teaching load is 3/2.
