Virginia Wesleyan College, (VWC), a small (1200 students, 85 full-time faculty), selective, and diverse liberal arts institution sited on 300 beautiful, wooded acres in the heart of the historical, economically dynamic, and culturally rich Norfolk-Virginia Beach metropolitan area, seeks applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Classics, beginning fall, 2008. A Ph.D. in Classics is required at the time the position begins. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to the development of a nascent classics program, to undergraduate teaching, and to the small liberal arts college environment. Candidates should enjoy teaching a range of courses, including Latin language and literature, classical mythology, and Greek and Roman history and culture. VWC seeks committed teacher/scholars who will foster undergraduate research, be professionally active, and advance the college's quest for Phi Beta Kappa recognition. Salary is competitive.
