The Department of Classical Studies at William & Mary invites applications for a one year, non-tenure-track visiting position that will begin August 10, 2020. This is a fixed-term position of one year, with possibility of renewal for at least one additional year. The successful applicant will be able to teach introductory and advanced courses in Greco-Roman civilization, mythology, and material culture as well as Latin at the intermediate level. The precise area of specialty is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose training and teaching experience complement the existing strengths of the department and best fit the curricular needs of the coming years. The teaching load will be three courses per semester.

Required qualifications: applicants must hold an MA in Classical Studies or a related field at the time of appointment, August 10, 2020. Preferred qualifications include holding a PhD and potential for research productivity as evinced by publications and/or conference presentations and previous teaching experience as instructor of record.

Submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter including statement of research and teaching interests, and course evaluations or other evidence of successful teaching, and a scholarly writing sample of no more than thirty pages.
