The Department of Classical Languages at Wake Forest University invites applications for a Teacher-Scholar Postdoctoral Fellow, to be awarded to a teacher-scholar in the early stages of his/her academic career. The initial term of the appointment is for one year with renewal for two additional years contingent on a successful review at the end of the first year. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2012. Candidates should be general classicists with a strong commitment to undergraduate education in the liberal arts tradition and should be prepared to teach Greek and Latin at various levels, along with courses in classical studies. The Fellow will teach two courses each semester. Area of specialization is open. The Department expects that the Fellow will have an active research agenda, and we will endeavor to support that work. The Fellow must have the Ph.D. degree by August 31, 2012. Applications will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled. Formal review will begin on March 1, 2012. We will not interview candidates at the APA meeting, but we expect to conduct telephone interviews in March and on-campus interviews in April. We will use an on-line application process.
