Postdoctoral Fellowships – Edition of the Correspondence of Joseph Scaliger. Two three-year post-doctoral fellowships will be available at the Warburg Institute starting in October 2004. They are funded by the 2002 Balzan Prize in History of the Humanities awarded to Professor Anthony Grafton, Princeton University. Fellows will be expected to produce an edition, for publication, of the Latin and French correspondence of the humanist Joseph Scaliger (1540-1609). Candidates should have a degree in classics, or equivalent knowledge of Latin and Greek; degree-level standard of Renaissance French; a PhD in any humanities subject relevant to the project; and experience of editing texts from early modern manuscripts. Starting salary £24,325 per annum including London Allowance (pay award pending). Closing date for applications: 7 January 2004.
