The Department of Classics at Washington and Lee University announces a one year sabbatical replacement position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in August 2012. The successful candidate will have completed the Ph. D. in Classics by June, 2012, and will have some experience in undergraduate teaching. A record of publishing and/or conference participation is also desirable. Teaching responsibilities will include a total of 6 courses, 5 of which will cover authors taught in the Latin language (elementary, intermediate, and one advanced seminar). There will also be the option of offering one course taught in English on some aspect of life, literature, or art, in the Roman world.
