ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, CLASSICAL ART HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY
The Department of Art History and Archaeology, in the School of Arts & Sciences, with a lively undergraduate program and a well-established MA and PhD program, seeks a dynamic scholar to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in the area of Greek and/or Roman art history and archaeology. The successful candidate must have a PhD in the History of Art (or a closely related discipline) and teaching experience; evidence of an ambitious research program is expected. She or he will teach two courses a semester at all levels, ranging from freshman introductory level courses to small seminars for graduate students and advanced majors, and will advise students in the Department, as well as serve the programs of Arts & Sciences more broadly. Other duties include university service, conducting research, and writing scholarly publications. Opportunities for collaborations with local institutions (e.g., The Saint Louis Art Museum) as well as the world-class Wulfing coin collection at Washington University, offer unique research possibilities. Desirable secondary research or teaching fields include, but are not limited to, numismatics, Egyptology, and history of architecture.
