The Department of Classics of Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a one-year position at the rank of Visiting Lecturer, for the academic year 2005-2006. Candidates should have the PhD in Classics in hand by the beginning of the Fall 2005 semester. Teaching load: three courses per semester, including culture courses (e.g. Greek Mythology, The Roman World, Greek and Latin Roots in English) as well as courses in Greek and Latin. Salary: $42,000. Washington University in St. Louis invites applications and nominations for the John and Penelope Biggs Distinguished Professorship in Classics, at the rank of Full Professor. The successful candidate will be a leader in the field of Classics, with an outstanding record in scholarship and teaching, both graduate and undergraduate. We seek a scholar with a specialization in one of the following fields: Greek or Latin literature and language, linguistics, or papyrology.
