WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY – DETROIT, MI
Lecturer in Modern Greek

We seek a vibrant colleague to revive a program in Modern Greek language and culture. Ph.D. preferred in an appropriate field. The successful candidate will teach full-time (3 courses each semester), advise students, and have an opportunity to develop new courses in Modern Greek culture. Near-native fluency and evidence of effective teaching experience at the university level is required. This is a non-tenure track position and as such does not require research, but we welcome candidates with a scholarly program, and such a candidate would have access to the same research support as tenure-track faculty. The lecturer will be expected to interact with the local Greek community and to investigate study-abroad options for interested students. Salary, to be determined, will depend on qualifications and experience. The appointment begins in Fall 2008.

Candidates should send a letter describing their qualifications and their interest in the position, along with a c.v., to Professor Kathleen McNamee either at k.mcnamee@wayne.edu or at Classics, Greek, and Latin, 431 Manoogian Hall, Wayne State University, Detroit, MI 48202, by November 15th, and they should arrange for three letters of reference to be sent by regular mail to the latter address by that date. Wayne State University also requires formal, online application for all positions; instructions are at https://jobs.wayne.edu. Anyone planning to attend the Modern Greek Studies Symposium at Yale University October 18-21, 2007 or the American Philological Association meeting in Chicago January 3-6, 2008 who will be available to meet the departmental representatives attending those meetings should indicate this in the letter of application.
