The Classical Studies Department at Wellesley College invites applications for a two-year Mellon Post-doctoral Fellowship to begin July 1, 2003. We seek candidates doing innovative, theoretically informed, and interdisciplinary work in the material culture of the early Greek world. Experience and continuing involvement with archaeological fieldwork as well as the ability to work with students interested in fieldwork are desirable. Applicants must have the PhD completed by October 1, 2003 and may be up to five years post-PhD.

Fellows will teach one course in the first year, two (one each semester) in the second, and will deliver one public lecture. A broad range of mentoring and developmental resources will be available, including funds for travel, research, and pedagogical projects. Fellows will receive a salary of approximately $45,000 for 2003-04.

The deadline for application is December 15, 2002. Applicants should indicate whether they will be available to interview at the APA convention in New Orleans or whether other arrangements will need to be made.
