The Classical Studies Department at Wellesley College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor/Lecturer position for the 2007-08 year. The ideal candidate will specialize in Greek language and literature but be able to teach courses in Latin and Classical Civilization as well. The teaching load is five courses; salary and benefits are highly competitive. The department of Classical Studies at Wellesley College announces a tenure track Assistant Professor position in material culture to begin September, 2007.

We invite applications from field archaeologists, marine or land based, doing innovative, theoretically-informed and interdisciplinary work in the material culture of Greco-Roman antiquity. We prefer someone who has connections with an on-going archeological project who could involve Wellesley students in that project. We need someone who is able and willing to teach language courses on a regular basis as part of his/her teaching load in the department. We welcome applicants whose work focuses on maritime trade or marine archeology. Completion of Ph.D. by Oct. 1, 2007 is strongly preferred.

The teaching load is two courses per term; salary and benefits are highly competitive. We plan to interview candidates at the APA Meetings in San Diego, and applicants should indicate whether they will be available to interview there or whether other arrangements will need to be made.
