Assistant Professor, tenure-track position beginning August, 2004 in Classics and General Studies. This position is definite and has been funded and approved by the administration. The successful candidate will be a teacher and scholar in Classics with special interests in ancient art, material culture, prose authors or a combination thereof. Hellenists as well as Latinists will be considered. The candidate must be able to teach both Latin and Greek languages at all undergraduate levels as well as courses in translation. This position is shared between Classics and our First-Year Core program. Whitman's First-Year Core course, "Antiquity and Modernity" is required of all students at the college, and the successful candidate will teach both semesters of this full-year course regularly (http://www.whitman.edu/general_studies/AM.html).
