WILLAMETTE UNIVERSITY - SALEM, OR
Assistant Professor of Classics. New tenure-track position beginning Fall 2003. Primary teaching responsibility for ancient Greek language and literature courses. Occasional responsibility for teaching Latin and classical culture courses in translation. Other responsibilities include participation in the Classical Studies Program (http://www.willamette.edu/cla/classics) and the interdisciplinary seminar for first-year students. Teaching experience is preferred, as is a commitment to continued research and publication. Ph.D. is required.

Willamette University, founded in 1842, is a first-tier private liberal arts college with professional programs in law, education, and management. It is located in Oregon's capital city in the heart of the scenic Pacific Northwest. The Classical Studies Program is enhanced by an active society of the Archaeological Institute of America, a new museum of art that features a growing collection of objects from classical civilizations, and colleagues in cognate departments who contribute to the program.
