The Department of Classics at Williams College welcomes applications for a tenure-track appointment with a specialty in Roman Studies, preferably Roman poetry. The appointment will carry the rank of Assistant Professor, although a senior appointment is possible in exceptional circumstances. Candidates should have strong language skills in both Greek and Latin and must be able to teach both languages from the beginning to the advanced levels. They should be prepared to teach a variety of courses in their area of specialty for students both with and without Latin. Applicants should have the Ph.D. in hand or expected by September 1999, and should evidence a strong commitment both to undergraduate teaching and to scholarship.
