WILLIAMS COLLEGE – WILLIAMSTOWN, MA
The Department of Classics at Williams College welcomes applications for a tenure track position in Classics and Jewish Studies for fall 2005 at the rank of Assistant Professor, although a senior appointment is possible in exceptional circumstances. We are seeking a Latinist who will normally teach one-half to two-thirds of his or her courses in Latin and Greek, and the balance in Jewish Studies. The area of specialization in classics is, ideally, Latin prose literature, although there is some flexibility. The specialization in Jewish Studies need not be in the periods or regions usually associated with Classics, although some overlap is a plus. Possible specialties include those in areas such as Jewish history, the nature and development of Judaism, and the history of Jewish thought. Applicants should have the Ph.D. in hand by September 1, 2005. Strong commitments to undergraduate teaching and to scholarship are equally sought. The application deadline is December 1, 2004. Please send a curriculum vitae and a complete dossier to: Professor Kerry A. Christensen, Chair, Department of Classics, 26 Hopkins Hall Drive, Williams College, Williamstown, MA 01267. As an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, Williams College especially welcomes applications from women and minority candidates
