The Department of Classics seeks a tenure-track, entry level assistant professor as a full-time member of the department, beginning September 2000. The department seeks a generalist who can teach both Latin and Greek at all levels as well as courses in translation and courses in Great Books or the Western Tradition in the university's general education program. Ph.D. in hand is essential and any area of expertise is welcome; publication is encouraged, although excellent teaching is the department's primary mission. Knowledge of computer technology in education or willingness to engage in outreach to K-12 teachers is especially desirable.
