The Departments of Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology; Greek, Latin and Classical Studies; and History at Bryn Mawr College seek to sponsor an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Humanities and Humanistic Studies, renewable for up to two, one-year terms beginning August 1, 2015. The appointment will begin in the academic year 2015-2016. We seek a scholar with special research interests in Greco-Roman history, who can teach undergraduate courses on the history of the ancient Mediterranean world, as well as graduate seminars on focused topics in ancient history, making use of the primary texts in the original Greek and Latin. We are particularly interested in finding a scholar who can bring out the cultural interactions in the rich multi-cultural environment of the ancient Mediterranean world, making use of a broad range of textual and material evidence. Candidates must have a completed Ph.D. (preferably in Classics or History) by the start date.
